The main component of Rubio Monocoat 2C oil is Linseed oil, which is a natural oil that comes from flax. Flax creates a number of products for us, including linen fabric and foods such as flaxseed in certain cereals. This product is safe to wear, to eat and to apply to your wooden surfaces. Knowing where the oil comes from helps us to highlight the safety of our product. 

Another key part of the Rubio Monocoat formula is that it is certified at 0% VOC. VOC’s are volatile organic compounds that evaporate into the air at room temperature and are then inhaled. Inhalation of these can cause eye and respiratory irritation, nausea, headaches and, in extreme cases, organ damage. Thus, by ensuring that our formula is completely VOC free, we are helping you to stay healthy whilst using our product. We have been officially certified by GREENGUARD Gold and Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold. 

Finally, our Rubio Monocoat 2C product has been thoroughly tested and is found to be in compliance with a number of EU Guidelines. This includes testing that states it is food safe and allowed to be used on food preparation surfaces (European food-contact framework EC 1935/2004). Additionally, it is allowed to be used on children’s toys (EN 71-3).
